An exciting opportunity has become available for a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Small Animal Surgeon with a focus on Orthopaedics to join a highly respected multidisciplinary referral hospital located just outside Zurich. This modern, well-established practice is home to more than 80 dedicated professionals and is recognised for delivering exceptional standards of patient care through advanced facilities, collaborative working, and clinical excellence.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside an experienced team of specialists while managing a varied and challenging orthopaedic caseload.

The Role

You will primarily focus on orthopaedic consultations and surgery for small animals within a busy first-opinion and referral setting. Depending on your experience and interests, you may also contribute to traumatology, neurosurgery, and soft tissue surgery.

You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of more than 20 veterinary specialists and play an active role in mentoring interns, supporting veterinary students, and contributing to ongoing professional education.

The position also includes participation in the emergency surgery rota, typically 12 on-call shifts per week and one weekend per month.

About You

We're looking for a veterinary surgeon who has:

• A veterinary degree recognised for practice in Europe
• Board Certification (ECVS or ACVS) or completion of a recognised surgical residency (Residency-Trained) in Small Animal Surgery
• Extensive experience in small animal orthopaedic surgery
• Expertise in performing:
• Complex fracture repairs
• Corrective osteotomies
• TPLO procedures
• Arthroscopy and minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery
• Experience with total joint replacement surgery is highly desirable
• The ability and willingness to undertake soft tissue and/or neurosurgical procedures when required
• A collaborative approach with a passion for mentoring and developing junior colleagues
• A strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
• Good German or English language skills,

The Team

You'll join an experienced and supportive surgical department that includes Board-Certified specialists in orthopaedics and neurosurgery, an experienced soft tissue surgeon, a surgeon in specialist training, and dedicated anaesthesia specialists. You'll also collaborate with specialists across Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Exotic Animal Medicine, and more.
